BASEL, Switzerland - After Rafael Nadal reached the Swiss Open quarterfinals in 57 minutes with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert, top-seeded Roger Federer crushed Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 6-2, 6-1 in just 46 minutes to reach the second round on Wednesday. The second-seeded Nadal, playing just his third tournament since Wimbledon due to a wrist injury, broke the qualifiers serve five times. The Spaniard, who struggled with appendicitis earlier this month in Shanghai, was never troubled by the 120th-ranked Herbert, who double-faulted 11 times.Playing at the tournament for the first time in 10 years, Nadal did save two break points, including when he was serving for the match. He next plays either Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan or 17-year-old Croatian wild card entry Borna Coric on Wednesday. Both won their first-round matches. It was even easier for Federer, who broke Muller in the sixth game and wrapped up the first set in 25 minutes, winning 91 per cent of his first-serve points. The second set was even quicker as Federer — who has won the tournament five times — totally dominated Muller, who failed to win a single point on Federers serve, as the 17-time Grand Slam champions ninth ace took him to match point.Federer, who improved to 5-0 against Muller in career head-to-heads, next plays Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan and leads him 5-0 too.Belgiums David Goffin is also through to the quarters after beating Croatias Ivan Dodig 7-6 (0), 6-4. He next plays either fourth-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada or Donald Young of the United States.Coric, ranked 124th, caused a big upset when he beat sixth-seeded Ernests Gulbis of Latvia 7-6 (2), 6-3.Although the 13th-ranked Gulbis, this years French Open semifinalist, had nine aces, he constantly felt the pressure of Corics excellent return. He faced 14 break points in the match, dropping his serve three times.Fifth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria survived a first-round scare against 17-year-old Alexander Zverev, before beating the German wild card entry 2-6. 6-4, 6-2 in a hard-fought match featuring seven breaks of serve. He next faces Canadian Vasek Pospisil.Earlier, Golubev won 6-3, 6-3 against Teymuraz Gabashvili of Russia.Meanwhile, Istomin had 14 aces in a 6-1, 6-1 rout of Polands Jerzy Janowicz, a renowned server who managed only two aces and lost his serve five times. Allen told MMQB.si.com he has a dead spot -- no bigger than a dime -- on his cerebellum. The cerebellum controls motor movement and co-ordination. The Jaguars released Allen last week after his personal physician consulted with Jacksonvilles medical staff before a scheduled physical. The Jaguars declined comment Tuesday, citing medical privacy laws. Allen, who lives with his wife and two--year-old son in San Diego, did not immediately return a message left on his cellphone. "I told my story so athletes understand you cant ignore head injuries," Allen posted on his Twitter page Tuesday. "If youre not sure you have one, then you do. Report it immediately." In the months after Allens initial stroke diagnosis, he saw three neurosurgeons. The last one advised Allen to quit playing football. Allen told MMQB he has struggled to pick up and grip hand-held objects -- doctors believe this will subside in time -- and will be on blood-thinning medication for the rest of his life. Allen hopes others will learn from his experience. "Guys talk about it all the time: Im all right; I just got my bell rung," he said.dddddddddddd"Ive had, maybe 10 times in my career, when for a second I felt woozy after a hit. And what Ive learned from this is that its not something to be overlooked. If it feels like somethings wrong, somethings wrong. I want someone to know my experience, so they can know when they experience something similar." Allen sustained the concussion and stroke in Week 15 against Buffalo after running into Bills centre Eric Wood several yards downfield. "It was strange because it was so routine," Allen said. "We hit, I got off the block, no big deal. "I felt something flash -- like they say when you get your bell rung. I didnt lose consciousness. I walked back to the huddle and finished the drive." Later in the game, though, Allen began having double vision on the sideline. He did not notify team trainers, instead asking teammate Paul Posluszny if his eye was OK. Allen had a headache after the game and again when he woke up the next day, which prompted him to tell the team. The Jaguars ordered an MRI and sent Allen home. That Tuesday, the Jags told Allen to meet a team physician at the emergency room. Allen was told he had suffered a stroke and had tests for three days at the hospital.
